“Can one have a direction without a family?” This is the big question that accompanies Lisa on her restless journey to Australia, in search of her parents. A question that will find an answer during a layover in the Philippines, on a beach in Palawan. On a magical, starry night, Lisa will meet little Liezel and the elderly Namid, who, welcoming her as a sister and a daughter, will make her understand in just a few hours that family is a place of the heart, and it doesnโt need blood ties, for the same reason one doesnโt choose who to love. You love them, simply. And in this unexpected journey, which will continue through the Philippines until reaching the village of Calabnugan, Lisa will mark her new birth, because, as Namid told her, “life is made of many births,” and the young new friends she meets and whose stories she collects will help her discover a new version of herself, reminding her that if you keep your heart open, you can never be alone.

Whoโs SelkInk?

Je suis prรชt. (Cit.)
SelkInk is a small digital entity offering editorial services.
After visiting Scotland together in 2020, the founders, Daniela and Denise, both of whom feel a strong connection to Scotland (and Ireland as well), came up with the idea of creating their own project.
Daniela is a journalist and translator, while Denise is an author, graphic designer, and illustrator.
They decided to combine their expertise to launch a project born out of a deep desire to express themselves and grow professionally. They assembled a team of freelancers to expand their language combinations for translation and offer services in editing, literary agency, communication, and storytelling.
In addition, SelkInk provides training courses, technical consultancy, support for university students, and promotional services for companies.
SelkInk continually adds new projects to its offerings, like LISA, with the aim of promoting the understanding of different cultures and realities and creating bridges across the world.

Since 2004, Isla ng Bata โ The Island of Children NGO has dedicated its work to the most vulnerable and less fortunate children. In the Philippines, it has built and manages an orphanage for girls living in poverty and abandonment. The volunteers of Isla work every day to provide the children they welcome with a future, giving them the opportunity to experience the love of a family, live a peaceful childhood, and become architects of their own lives.
Isla ng Bata has chosen to focus its activities in the village of Calabnugan, a few kilometers from the city of Dumaguete. There, they have built a childrenโs home, Isla ng Bata House, and initiated economic, health, and educational support projects for the local population. The Isla ng Bata House was inaugurated in 2010 and can now accommodate up to 40 children who have been abandoned, victims of abuse or mistreatment, and/or physically handicapped. The children are lovingly cared for and supported in their journey toward an independent future. The childrenโs home is managed by both Italian and local staff.
In Italy, since its inception, Isla ng Bata has promoted initiatives aimed at raising awareness about the protection of children’s rights in economically developing countries. Since 2004, numerous activities have been carried out, involving local administrations, NGOs, and economic and social organizations in the area, in order to create a network for sharing and mutual support.
Currently, the childrenโs home houses 27 girls aged between 0 months and 19 years, and two of the girls have recently begun a semi-autonomy program: an Isla project designed to promote their independence while still providing support.
